NHL Pittsburgh Penguins player #71 Evegeni Malkin is playing for the Penguins as a professional ice hockey center and alternate captain since the 2006-2007 National Hockey League season. Malkin was born July 31, 1986 in Magnitogorsk, Russian SFSR, USSR. He is the son of Vladimir Malkin, a former defenceman of Metallurg Magnitogorsk, a professional ice hockey team based in Magnitogorsk, Russia. Like his father, he played for Metallurg Magnitogorsk and spent three seasons with the team from 2003-2006. He started to play for interantional championships for Team Russia in 2003 for the World U18 Championships, 2005 & 2006 World Junior Championships and 2005 & 2007 World Championships.
