The Calgary Flames were founded
in 1972 and originally called
as the Atlanta Flames. In
1980, the team moved to
Calgary, Alberta, Canada and
now being called the Calgary
Flames.
They are one of the
professional ice hockey teams
and members of the Northwest
Division of the Western
Conference of the National
Hockey League. The Flames
played their first three
seasons in Calgary at the
Stampede Corral before moving
into their current home arena,
the Pengrowth Saddledome. The
team has now five division
championship and three
conference championship
titles. The first and only
Stanley cups they have won was
during the 72nd NHL season in
1988-1989 over the Montreal
Canadiens. The team's
colors are red, black, gold
and white. In celebration of
their 30th season in Calgary,
the Flames will wear their
original jersey design for
five games in 2009–2010
season, each against a
